BREAKFAST - Kitchen Shift inspired breakfast ideas 🧠

(and things I avoid‼️)

Here is a sampling of the breakfasts I make for me and my kids.

The first foods of the day absolutely set the TONE for the day! Not just physically but mentally!

I really think breakfast is the most important meal in terms of intention. Whether you are eating it at 6am or 11am you want these first foods to have:

✅ good clean protein sources
✅ healthy fat sources
✅ fiber
✅ micronutrients sources

Examples include:

  • organic eggs

  • nitrate free bacon

  • chicken sausage

  • yogurts without aspartame or colors

  • organic fruit like blueberries, pomegranates, and strawberries

  • vegetables (spinach and tomatoes increase in micronutrient content when cooked and pair so nice with eggs!)

  • gluten free toast with grass fed butter, avocados, seeds and nuts like pumpkin seeds and chia seeds.

    When you eat with this focus- your brain and gut get all the right signals. Proper neurotransmitter production can occur. Cortisol stays in check. And your metabolism and energy systems are aligned.

    It makes every subsequent food choice easier because you aren’t on the chemical/carb roller coaster.

    What I avoid ‼️
    ⚠️Fake eggs- like the ones out of a carton that are focus on macros like “high protein”.
    ⚠️Cereal. It’s honestly one of the worst foods you can eat. It’s filled with glyphosate, sugar and inflammatory grains. Making this swap could truly change your life. I recall when my husband was first diagnosed with celiac and I found a study that correlated high consumption of cereal with auto immune diseases like celiac. If you are feeding your kids cereal - start working to phase it out. They will thank you when they are adults
    ⚠️Low carb bread and wraps that are packed with seed oils, chemicals and fillers. These might fit into your macros but they are destroying your gut and will create deeper problems for you.

    Think broader than weight loss. Think about what signals you are sending to your body through food. If your organs aren’t working well- it doesn’t matter if you fit in your jeans.

    Count chemicals over calories!
    Eat real food!
    Work that shift!
