Powershift Stories: Sarah Leigh

My Powershift experience:

I’ve completed Powershift 3 times now. My first time I was traveling the first 5 days, the second I was home completing my normal day to day schedule of working, mom-ing, etc. and my third time, this most recent round was completed during a somewhat stressful time for our family, which also included me starting back to work post-quarantine & going on our new boat almost every day. So, to say I’ve completed each round under different circumstances has allowed me to see that when I set my mind to something, go all in, focus on what I can control .. I come out feeling stronger than ever!

What I’ve learned:
        1.      PREPARATION makes it ALL so much easier. When traveling, I prepared my food before the road trip, had my snacks and meals planned out as best I could and set my self up for ultimate success. Packing a cooler, preparing your smoothies beforehand, cutting your fruits & veggies and having things like boiled eggs, almonds, etc. help in times of need.
        2.      I learned that staying strong during travel allowed me to see that even when my kids are having yummy pancakes and French fries & ordering dessert that I could STILL enjoy myself without partaking. I looked forward to sleeping well and waking up feeling refreshed and not hungover (from alcohol, sugar, etc.)
        3.      During stressful times, during situations that feel out of your control - I saw that I felt much stronger mentally when I was in complete control of my nutrition, mindset towards food and alcohol & focused on feeing my best. I typically would resort to alcohol & sugar after a stressful day, for a temporary fix - but instead I was completing a good bedtime routine, having my tea and sleeping like a baby!
        4.      As for the boat - okay this was easier than I expected. I prepped my food beforehand, packed my cooler, and found some mineral / sparkling water that made that urge to have a cold drink on the water satisfied! And again, my mindset and mood were a reflection of staying strong and committed to the 10 days!

Overall, I am so thankful for Beth and her wealth of knowledge. I have learned how things like gluten, dairy, alcohol, sugar and caffeine affect me in different ways. My biggest wins after completing POWERSHIFT are: clear skin (huge for me), mental clarity (another biggie), sleep, and reduction in overall inflammation.

My favorite thing is the mental relationship I now have with certain foods + alcohol - knowing how they make me feel allows me to get right back on track if I fall off! I now implement certain things into my daily routine & use Beth’s recipes weekly to make eating healthy and feeing my best easy.

I can’t recommend Beth’s program enough!
